Hyperbaric FAQ

1. Q: Is hyperbaric chamber oxygen therapy dangerous (HBOT)?

A: With anything in life there are risks involved, but overall HBOT is considered one of the safest alternative therapy treatments known. If you are concerned we suggest talking to your medical professional.

2. Q: Does HBOT hurt?

A: There can be a little pressure in your ears upon pressuring up the chamber and decompressing, similar to go up and down in an airplane, but with ear clearing techniques, chewing gum, etc., it relieves the pressure quickly generally without any other issues.

3. Q: Are there any side effects?

A: Some people experience a little light headedness after their dive/session due to the concentration of oxygen their body just experienced but it’s rare and doesn’t last long. The true side effects/benefits are the healing and improvement!

4. Q: What if I’m claustrophobic?

A: The chamber is a more inclosed space but it does expand as it pressures up creating more room. We encourage clients to bring a book, phone, tablet, or other form of entertainment to help distract themselves in the chamber. Most people fall asleep. We can offer some natural homeopathic recommendations to help calm your body/mind down while in the chamber or you are welcome to employ the techniques that help you. Worst case, we can decompress the chamber within a few minutes and end your session.

5. Q: What do I wear in the chamber?

A: Anything that is comfortable for you! We do not allow shoes in the chamber so we suggest bringing or wearing socks to keep your feet comfortable.

6. Q: What if I get cold/hot?

A: We provide a fan, clean blanket, and pillow in the chamber to meet your needs.

7. Q: Can I eat or drink in the chamber?

A: We do not allow food in the chamber but we do allow clear drinks and gum.

8. Q: Do I have to wear the oxygen mask?

A: You do not have to wear the oxygen mask but we highly suggest that you do in an effort to reap the greatest benefits and expose your body to more oxygen.

9. Q: Can I go in the chamber with my child?

A: We do allow for small children to go into the chamber with a parent. The child can sit on the lap of the parent in a chair or for slightly larger children we can remove the chair and make you comfortable on the floor.

10. Q: How long does a session/dive take?

A: It usually takes 10-15 minutes to orient new clients to how the chamber works, set up, etc. Then it takes 10 minutes for the chamber to reach full pressure. We like to give our clients a full 60 minutes at full pressure in the chamber, and then it can take 3-10 minutes to pressure back down depending on how fast the client can adjust to the pressure changes. We allow an hour and a half for each session start to finish.

11. Q: What if I’m late or have to leave early?

A: We understand that life happens but we can not adjust your time based on last minute circumstances. We desire to be considerate of other clients as we would consider you. Please consider moving your appointment time within 24 hours if you foresee an issue. Otherwise we will use whatever time is available during your reserved time slot.

12. Q: Where are you located?

A: We are located in a home office in northern Concord, NC. Our office has a separate entrance for our clients and we value offering personalized, comfortable care for our clients. You will receive the exact address before your appointment.

13. Q: What if there are no times on the calendar that are available for me?

A: Please reach out to us and we will try to find a time that works for everyone.

14. Q: What if we have an emergency situation and need an appointment quickly?

A: We understand that accidents happen. Please visit a hospital if needed. Otherwise, please text our business line: 704-464-2116 for pressing HBOT timelines.

15. Q: How long before I can expect to see improvement?

A: This can vary for everyone, but we’ve seen people experience improvement within hours.

16.Q: Do I have to lay down in the chamber?

A: While there are chambers that require you to lay down ours employs a reclining upright chair for more comfort.

17.Q: Are you wheelchair accessible?

A: Unfortunately at this time we are not wheelchair accessible. We do have one set of stairs that the client has to be able to climb to be able to access the chamber.

18. Q: Do you accept insurance?

A: Unfortunately at this time we cannot accept insurance. However, often times an HSA account will provide a way of reimbursement for HBOT services. We can provide a letter of service if you can submit for reimbursement with your healthcare coverage. If your insurance covers alternative healthcare we can provide a letter covering homeopathy as well. Please contact us for more info.
